The challenge

Project cargo of this size normally sits at KICT for 7–10 days while HS classification and duty assessment are argued out with Pakistan Customs. Every extra day meant demurrage, storage and financing cost — plus lost production time at the mill.

Our approach

  • HS classification memo and SRO exemption request filed with FBR before vessel arrival
  • Pre-alerted the examination officer and arranged a pre-scheduled inspection slot
  • Prepared WeBOC GD with valuation backup and manufacturer's technical brochures
  • Coordinated bonded trucking from KICT to Faisalabad the same day cargo gated out

The outcome

The full consignment cleared 48 hours after vessel discharge. The client avoided an estimated PKR 3.4M in demurrage and storage and captured a 9% duty saving on eligible components under the applicable SRO. Installation started two weeks earlier than the original project plan assumed.
